FAQWhy is an in-home service better than a nursing home or ALF?
That’s a great question. You can sum it up by saying “peace of mind” for the Client and the family. The Client is receiving one on one attention on their schedule and treated with respect. When the client wants something, it happens. And let’s face it, wouldn’t we want to stay in our own homes rather than an institutional environment. Clients are usually very attached to their homes and it normally is the best place to recover or just live life to the fullest.
I hate phones answered by a machine. Do you answer your phones?
We hate the phone maze too and sometimes after trying to deal with the phone company….we need a caregiver! We have a real live staff person answer the phones 24/7 and sometimes it’s Joyce or Ron themselves! (Yes the staff likes to have a little fun with the bosses and forward the calls to them on the weekend for grins sometimes).
Why shouldn't I hire an individual from the paper and save some money?
Well….there are some facts you need to consider. A great majority of the good caregivers work for agencies. To work for an agency, a caregiver has to pass a criminal background screening, be able to pass a communicable disease exam, credential and license verification, past employment record, furnish about eighteen other items for the record and make it through our interview. You have to ask yourself, why are they not working for an agency? Is there a problem?
Some Clients will tell us they can speak to a person and get a “feel” for them. That can be tough, because some of the problem people floating around can be pretty convincing. Additionally, what happens when they call in sick (and they will)? Our agency provides replacements when this happens and professional management. There really is no way to be careful, if you hire from the paper, your rolling the dice.
